This page will hold information about our club, our history and links to documents such as our Constitution and Privacy Notice. It is currently under construction so check back in the future to see progress.
One of our founding members Mr Eric Humphrey has written three articles two of which recount his early experiences of model flying and a third which is a work of science fiction. Having read these articles I think a lot of people will find them interesting. The links to each will follow please click on the link to download and read.
We
were founded in 1969 as Spenborough Aeronautical Society (S.A.S.) and
are heading for our 50th year as a club in a years time. The club was
renamed The West Yorkshire Model Flying Club (WYMFC) in 1973, when we
moved to our present flying field at Ringstone nr. Halifax. We
subsequently obtained full planning permission to carry on flying at
this site.
Although our membership is quite small, we still have some of our original founders as active members.
We welcome fliers with fixed
wing, helicopters and multi-copters. We have a large open flying site
which includes an south west facing slope ideal for soaring. During the
winter months we have taken up indoor flying typically flying small
electric helicopters, fixed wing and even ornithopters!
Although not a 'competitive' club we always try to arrange a few light hearted competitions during the summer.
If you would like to start or rekindle your interest in flying model aircraft then we would love to meet you.
The Club holds a social meeting
once a month, usually on the first Thursday of the month at Liversedge
Cricket Club. Past meetings have had talks by invited speakers or club
members, practical demonstrations, quizzes, films or discussions.
